The Keto Diet For Dummies

By Devanshu (Dev)

If you’ve only heard a little bit about the keto diet, you might think that it has a lot of rules. This diet might seem restrictive at first, but it’s actually a lot easier to follow than you think. This keto diet for dummies guide will give you a better idea of what you should – and shouldn’t – be eating.

This Is A Low Carb Diet

In a nutshell, this is a low carb diet. This doesn’t mean that the keto diet is identical to other low carb diet plans like Atkins. There are plenty of things that set this diet apart from other diets that ask you to restrict your carb intake.

With that said, limiting the number of carbs that you eat is one of the most important parts of the keto diet. Luckily, because this diet is so popular, you’ll find plenty of great substitutes for your favorite high carb foods.

You’ll Be Turning Fats Into Fuels

Another crucial component of the keto diet is your fat intake. However, you won’t want to avoid fat. In fact, you’ll want to include more fat in your diet. The fats that you eat will help to fuel your body.

Of course, you’ll want to make sure you eat the right kinds of fats. Look for healthy fats, like the fats that you’ll find in foods like avocado. Try to make these kinds of fats a staple of your diet.

Be Wary Of Sugar

Carbs aren’t the only thing that you’ll need to avoid when you’re on the keto diet. You’ll also want to make sure that you don’t eat processed sugar. This is something that can really sabotage your diet. You should also be careful about eating naturally occurring sugars, like the ones that you can find in fruit.

Thankfully, artificial sweeteners have come a long way, and staying away from sugar is a lot easier than you might think. You can even enjoy a variety of desserts when you’re on this diet. You just have to make sure you find the right recipes.

Load Up On Protein

In addition to fats, you’ll want to eat a lot of protein when you’re on the keto diet. It’s common for people that are on this diet to eat a lot of meat, but it isn’t your only option. There are also other types of protein that you can include in your diet. Seafood is a great source of protein, and eggs are a terrific option as well.

Healthy fats and protein should be a part of every meal that you eat. If you manage to do that and cut your carb intake, you’ll quickly see results from this diet.

The keto diet isn’t hard to follow, and this guide to the keto diet for dummies proves that. Even if you’ve struggled to follow diets in the past, you should be able to stick to the rules of this diet plan. Once you adjust to this diet, following the rules will be second nature to you.
